Lady Gaga and Harvard Business School
Harvard Business School is well known for its case study method.
And now it appears Anita Elberse, an assistant professor of business administration who teaches entertainment, has created a case study about Lady Gaga, who has nearly 14 million followers on Twitter. @ladygaga.
The case study, (which in full disclosure I have not read) is about branding. Harvard Business School recently revamped its curriculum.
Previously cases “devolved to teach technical skills.” Now there is an incresingly emphasis on placing skills in a “broader company and industry context.”
Still it raises a compelling question about education at one of the nation’s premier business schools. Would students learn how to be better leaders/executives/managers if they veered away from a corporate mindset toward the thinking of a creative artist?
